Kick/tip guards are designed to reduce the risk of rotational kickback by preventing the bar’s tip from contacting logs, branches, or other obstructions. Installing a kick/tip guard also makes it easier to work in tight cutting environments, where a bare nose bar could be damaged or dulled by abrasive contact. In addition, the guard helps protect the bar nose from accidental contact with the ground or other surfaces. Do not use a kick/tip guard when felling a tree with a wedge, when the saw’s nose is needed for cutting, or when the blade must be pulled through after completing a cut.
Kick/tip guards are available as an accessory.
