Does My New ECHO® Product Require a Break-In Period?

Gas-Powered Products

Yes. ECHO® recommends a short break-in period during the first 5–10 hours of operation.

During this time:

  • Avoid running at full throttle for extended periods.
  • Vary the engine speed and workload.
  • Use the correct fuel or engine oil as specified in the operator's manual.

For 4-stroke engines, change the engine oil after the break-in period. 2-stroke engines do not require an oil change, continue using the correct fuel and oil mixture.

Battery-Powered Products

No. Battery-powered ECHO® products do not require a traditional break-in period.

For best performance:

  • Fully charge the battery before first use.
  • Recharge the battery before it becomes completely discharged.
  • Store the battery in a cool, dry location when not in use.
