Why Does My New ECHO® Product Smell Like Fuel or Have Residue Inside the Fuel Tank?

ECHO® products are tested as part of the factory assembly and quality-control process before leaving the facility.

Most units are tested by connecting testing equipment directly to the carburetor, so no fuel/oil mixture is added to the fuel tank. However, certain batches of units may be selected for additional testing. During this testing, the fuel tank may be filled with a fuel/oil mixture and the engine may be run.

Although the fuel tank is emptied after testing, a small amount of fuel/oil residue may remain, which can cause a fuel odor or visible residue inside the fuel tank.
