What is the difference between the hip and tube mounted throttles on ECHO® blowers?

Modified on Thu, Oct 30, 2025 at 8:31 AM

ECHO® offers both hip-mounted and tube-mounted throttle options on most backpack blowers. The differences and benefits of each are outlined below, and selection is based on user preference. The throttle type (hip or tube mounted) is fixed by design and cannot be changed.

Hip-Mounted Throttle: The throttle is located next to the users hip and operated with the left hand. The benefit is the cables and wires are contained and protected from damage/snagging.

Tube-Mounted Throttle: The throttle is located on the blower tube and operated with the right hand. The benefit is the blower can be operated with only one hand.
