No. The debris shield should never be removed from an ECHO® trimmer unless it is being replaced.
Operating a trimmer without the debris shield can prevent the trimmer line from being properly cut to length. This can increase the load on the engine and may result in engine damage or failure.
Damage resulting from operating the trimmer without the debris shield may not be covered under the ECHO® warranty.
